How it works

Frequently asked questions

How do I sync subtitles that are out of time with the video?

Load your subtitle file above, enter how many seconds the subtitles are early or late (for example 2.5, or -0.75 to shift earlier), and download the corrected file. Every cue is shifted by the same offset with millisecond precision.

How do I know which offset to use?

Find a line you can hear clearly, note when it is spoken in the video, and compare it with the subtitle timestamp. The difference is your offset: positive if subtitles appear too early, negative if they appear too late. In the editor you can load your video from your device and see the fix immediately.

Can I shift by fractions of a second?

Yes. Offsets accept up to three decimal places (e.g. 1.250 seconds), so you can adjust timing to the exact millisecond — and every shift is a single Undo away.

Which subtitle formats can I sync?

You can load SRT, VTT, ASS, and SBV files, and download the corrected subtitles as SRT, VTT, or SBV.

What happens if a subtitle would move before 00:00:00?

The shift is clamped so the earliest subtitle never moves before 00:00:00 — you cannot push the track off the start of the video, and no cues are ever dropped.

Is my file uploaded to your servers?

The shift happens in your browser and your video never leaves your device. Your subtitle draft is backed up anonymously for 24 hours so you can pick it up after signing in — nothing else is uploaded.
