How do I extract text from an SRT file?
Drop your .srt file above (VTT and SBV also work). Timestamps and cue numbers are stripped instantly in your browser, leaving clean text you can copy or download as .txt.
Can I get the transcript as flowing paragraphs instead of one line per subtitle?
Yes. Choose “Flowing paragraphs” and consecutive cues are joined into sentences, with a paragraph break wherever there is a pause of a second or more in the timing.
Is my subtitle file uploaded anywhere?
No. The extraction is pure client-side JavaScript — your file is read and processed on your own device and never sent over the network.
Does it remove formatting tags too?
Yes. Inline tags like <i>italics</i> or {b}bold{/b} markers are removed along with timestamps, so you get plain readable text.
Does it work for Chinese and Cantonese subtitles?
Yes. CJK text is preserved exactly, and in paragraph mode consecutive Chinese cues are joined without inserting unwanted spaces between characters.
